Dell Alienware AW2518HF AMD FreeSync 240Hz 1ms 25 Inch Gaming Monitor
***This is the AMD FreeSync version. It's the cheaper alternative to the NVIDIA G-Sync Version***
This is one of the latest gaming monitors from Dell’s gaming division Alienware. It’s a hugely powerful 25 inch monitor using TN panel technology with ultrathin bezels, fully adjustable stand, and a ridiculous 240Hz refresh rate amongst other high end features.
Alienware AW2518HF Gaming Monitors Deliver the Wow Factor
The AW2518HF is as interesting to look at as some of the games you will be able to play using it. Featuring the iconic angular features and LED lighting display of the Alienware gaming brand, although you won’t be able to see or benefit from them whilst using the monitor, you will notice a feint glow around your room dependent on which colours range you end up choosing from the 16.8 million variations.
The display itself is virtually borderless in the fact that it has ultra-slim bezels at the top and sides and a fairly slim bottom bezel. The underside of the lower bezel features the control buttons and easy access USB and audio ports. The back contains the remainder of the connectivity options, the LED lighting set up, Alienware logo and the stand of course.
Alienware AW2518HF Monitors are Fully Flexible
Like many of the current Dell monitor range Alienware has included a fully flexible stand that is functional and matches the design features of the monitor itself. The feet are more like prongs made of solid metal and the upright features the angular design across the tough plastic casing.
It is fully height adjustable and it pivots in either direction through 90 degrees into portrait mode, as well as twisting and tilting to allow gamers to find the optimum position for their individual needs.
This Monitor is also VESA compatible using a 100mm x 100mm mounting plate on the back should you want to mount it using alternative options.
AW2518HF Gaming Monitors Feature a Large Range of Connectivity Options
To ensure most users can connect their devices Alienware included a DisplayPort 1.2 as well as HDMI 1.4 and 4 USB 3.0 ports. You will also find audio out ports both on the back and in the easy access section on the underside of the front.
Alienware Gaming Monitors are Packed with Tech
This monitor is a full HD 1920 x 1080p resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) which isn’t ground breaking, but it does have a refresh rate of 240Hz as well as a 1ms response time, which is hard to beat. This is supported by the AMD® FreeSyncTM technology.
AMD introduced a handy feature called Low Framerate Compensation (LFC) to FreeSync that improves how FreeSync monitors behave when running under their minimum supported refresh rate. Monitors with LFC duplicate frames when the refresh rates are below the minimum FreeSync requirement, thus enabling the refresh rate to enter the FreeSync range. If your graphics card is running at 30 fps, LFC duplicates the frames and runs the display at 60Hz, keeping things running nice and smoothly.
